AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that breaks traditional predictions, the game developer has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of prohibited practices and terrifying changes echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden cult.
The mission concentrates on "peculiar tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Content
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside numerous objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
