I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round fight which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" the American as the pair met personally to promote next month's boxing match.
Former two-time world title holder Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.
Fighter's Mindset
"I plan to injure his face and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," the British boxer, 35 years old, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Exchange
Despite such comments, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.
Paul instead criticized former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and labeled him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Fury
Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of declaring he will damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his opponent's fighting skills.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he stated.
Paul's History
Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
However, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's largest commercial attractions, consistently making massive paydays.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28-year-old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly being planned for two years from now.
"It's going to be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.
Size Disparity
As both boxers met for the usual face-off, with their size difference evident, it highlighted just how surprising this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is truly happening.
