Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better service.
He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
